NOMINATE A PROGRAM FOR THE MODEL PROGRAMS GUIDE OJJDP continually seeks new programs to include in the Model Programs Guide (MPG). We are pleased to review research findings on potential new programs. To be considered, programs must: . Provide a treatment or an intervention for youth involved in, or at risk for, delinquent behavior. (For the purposes of the MPG, delinquent behavior is broadly defined, including substance use but not tobacco use.) . Address delinquency prevention or intervention. Prevention programs may aim to reduce or prevent delinquency or focus on risk and/or protective factors for delinquency. They must target a cohort of juveniles who have engaged in, or demonstrated a risk of engaging in, delinquent behavior. Intervention programs should focus on the program's impact on recidivism although some exceptions may apply (e.g., residential programs that are designed to reduce overcrowding). Programs that serve both juveniles and adults are acceptable. Please submit the following information on programs to be considered for inclusion in the MPG: . Detailed description of the program intervention, target population, and target setting. . Detailed information on the research methodology used to evaluate the program's effectiveness. . Detailed information on the evaluation outcomes and findings, including findings on research objectives and performance. . Contact address, phone number, and email for further information on the program. Submissions will be reviewed and scored along several dimensions, including 1) the degree to which the program is based on a clear, well-articulated theory or conceptual framework for delinquency prevention; 2) the ability of the research design to establish a causal association between the treatment and outcome; and 3) the degree to which the evaluation findings support the program treatment. Please send this information, including journal articles and evaluation materials, to: Dr. Stephen Gies If the program is designated for inclusion, a representative from DSG will contact you with further details.
