Statewide Assessment of DMC for Virginia

For the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Criminal Justice Services, DSG conducted a statewide assessment of disproportionate minority contact in the Virginia juvenile justice system.

Gap Analysis and Facilities Master Plan for Maryland

For Maryland’s Department of Juvenile Services (DJS), DSG conducted a two-phase study to develop a Facilities Master Plan for DJS. Phase 1, the Gap Analysis, analyzed the DJS youth population and forecast its future population. The second phase included a strategy based on the Gap Analysis findings and recommendations.

Targeted Community Action Planning for OJJDP

For the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), DSG managed the Targeted Community Action Planning Intensive Technical Assistance Initiative. This initiative provided support to communities interested in developing targeted responses to their most pressing juvenile justice issues.

Our Division

Under the direction of Alan M. Bekelman, president, the Management Consulting Division provides expert program development assistance, strategic planning, and other support to federal, state, and local governments; universities; research organizations; associations; and businesses. Management consulting services include group facilitation, program planning and management, resource development, management information systems and software development, and conduct of peer review processes.

Management Approach

DSG’s management approach integrates ongoing quality assurance with a flexible project task assignment system to ensure all client requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner and to promote clear, efficient communication among all parties, including client agency officials, DSG staff, and consultants/subcontractors. DSG managers and staff specifically focus on maintaining collaborative, supportive client relationships throughout the lifetime of each project.

DSG works with local, county, and state governments to design and implement strategies that promote economic development. Our staff has access to best practices, research, tools, and approaches that have been successfully applied across the United States, including research on sector-specific value chains and traditional and nontraditional revenue enhancements.

We work with governments, foundations, and agencies to develop and implement strategies for their philanthropic work, and support corporations in their efforts to become more effective in social engagement.
